simply sash: terms & conditions↸
Our Ts and Cs
The term 'sash service' is used collectively to refer to the sash window services we offer.
- sash cord service (which includes 'lower sash service' and 'full sash service')
- draught reduction service (also called 'draught proofing service')
- double glazing service
When we refer to 'window' we mean a timber box sash window, consisting of one or more sliding sashes. Normally this will contain a pair of sashes: upper and lower.
For the purposes of our sash services, a bay window with three separate sets of sashes would count as three windows.
A full sash service covers both upper and lower sashes. This applies where both sashes are designed to be moveable. If a window only has one moveable sash (i.e. the upper sash is fixed in place) then only a lower sash service will be applicable to that window.
Our draught reduction and double glazing services are based on a full sash cord service. If you have single-sash windows in need of draught proofing or double glazing, please contact uscontact us for a no-obligation price quotation.
If you have windows that consist of more than two sashes (contained together within the same sash box), then please contact uscontact us to discuss your situation.
All sash service, replacement sash and replacement sill prices vary depending on window size, based on the largest dimension of the window.
Unless stated otherwise (as part of an offer) listed starting (from) prices for sash services are for windows up to 1.3m (4ft 3in approx) tall. Larger windows will typically cost more to service, on a sliding scale.

All sash service prices exclude the cost of add weights necessary to reset sash counterbalance.
Sash cord service prices exclude replacement beading (as required, if we are unable to reuse the existing beading).
Unless specified, all listed prices (apart from draught reduction services) exclude VAT at the standard rate.
Draught reduction service Draught reduction service listed prices exclude VAT at the lower 5% rate.
Sash services do not include rot or structural repair work as standard. You can request this separately if you need it. See our renovation solutions for details.
Painting and decorating is not included as part of any service, except for applying white primer to exposed timber where appropriate.
In order to access your property and work on your windows we need sufficient parking for our van(s). If you can provide adequate off-street parking that's great. Otherwise we will need suitable guest parking permits for the duration, or the cost of parking charges will be included in the overall bill.
When ordering more than one sash service, you can choose a different level of service per window, to suit your needs and budget.
Windows that are high off the floor or not easily accessible may require scaffolding to service, at additional cost.
For Bristol, the minimum sash service order for domestic properties is 2 sash windows (see Terms above for our definition of 'window').
All our work is covered by a 1 year guarantee for parts and labour.
